México-1976. Inspired by concepts like impossibility and human error, Iturralde thinks of his work as a magnifying glass that provides a new context to sound objects or phenomena which fascinate him. His work includes acoustic, electronic and mix media pieces, as well as improvisation, installation and all kinds of interdisciplinary collaborations. Iturralde’s creations have been performed in venues like Carnegie Hall, Mozart Hall and Muziekgebouw, by ensembles such as Contrechamps, Klangforum Wien , KNM Berlin, among others. After obtaining his Bachelor’s degree in composition from the CIEM (MX), with support from the Mexican Fund for Culture and Arts, Iturralde continued his studies in composition and sonology at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, NL. Since 2007 he is based in Mexico City, where he has been twice a member of the National System of Creators, and produces all sorts of projects, most of them with Liminar Ensemble, for which he is founding member as well as co-director/performer.
