Sandeep Bhagwati is a composer, poet, researcher, music activist and ensemble leader with activities worldwide. After being professor of composition at Karlsruhe Music University from 2000 onwards, in 2006-2016 he was awarded a Canada Research Chair in Inter-X Art at Concordia University Montréal - where he then founded matralab, a node for research-creation in new aesthetic techniques and digital technologies for comprovisation, trans-traditional musicking practices, situational scores, and heterophonic temporalities. Artistic director of the musicians’ networks “Sabdagatitara”(Berlin) & “Sangeet Prayog”(Pune) and co-editor of “Turba - A Journal for Global Practices in Live Arts Curation”, he was honoured in Quebec and Canada with a Homage Season 2023/24 dedicated to his music.
